Ellen Digital seeks a Senior Director of Games who will drive their game business across their existing titles and guide the development of additional titles. The Senior Director of Games is responsible for leading the development and operations to build out the games business at Ellen Digital by integrating Project Management, Production Services, marketability objectives and business priority alignment. The role collaborates with The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s executive producers to meet objectives.

The Senior Director of Games will determine what games to develop, considering both, player base and revenue targets, and oversee the games team(s) from creation to release of each product. They’ll also measure each game’s success and strategize on how to improve process and revenue as we grow.

Individual must be creative and able to dream up new games, and strategic in plotting out how to attack them and make them commercially successful. They will be focused on increasing our audience, and on unlocking that audience to further amplify existing Ellen platforms and content.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the games team(s), internally and externally
  • Translate creative ideas from key stakeholders into game designs that developers can build
  • Find and vet developer partners; project manage each collaboration
  • Oversee production schedules, and communicate status or changes to key stakeholders, in order to assess impact to company objectives
  • Ensure we continue to develop products that players will download, play often, and eventually monetize either through purchase or ads
  • Identify potential revenue opportunities whether via partnerships or monetization, etc.
  • Refine creative from outsourced developers
  • Forecast game performance and manage P&L
  • Brainstorm new opportunities for games and cross-over or tie-in potential with our existing IP
  • Manage user testing process
  • Design and run AB tests to make sure new features are functioning as intended
  • Compile game data reports
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities or challenges
  • Lead Marketing Process by targeting the audience, creating digital ad campaigns, analyzing the campaigns and liaising with distribution partners to position our products strategically and effectively
  • Define soft launch strategy
  • Manage all external licensing, including the relationship, ensure product is on brand, secure any art and creative needs, route approvals
  • Communicate game team updates to key stakeholders
  • Identify new partnerships and opportunities
  • Stay on top of game industry trends
  • Reports to the General Manager of Ellen Digital

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of product management experience with casual and/or social games
  • Credited as a Product Lead, Executive Producer or equivalent senior studio leadership role in a small- to mid-size game development company
  • Proficient in building business plans
  • Ability to lead multiple projects in budget range of $1m-$5m or greater
  • Great communication skills with ability to negotiate and advocate with stakeholders to deliver on company objectives
  • Development & release experience – Experience creating expert level pitch decks, green-lighting projects, and leading projects from Proof-of-Concept through MVP / soft launch, launch and live ops
  • Experience assembling and leading teams of 5-50 people for game production
  • Successfully shipped 5+ high quality mobile titles
  • Experience with managing A/B tests and experiments
  • Prior experience managing mobile, PC or console game live operations and analytics as well as supervising external developers
  • Exceptional quantitative analytical and modeling skills and a history of making data driven decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence across a variety of personality types and resolve conflicts with competing ideas
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to lead, manage, motivate and inspire a diverse group of professionals
  • Experience with major global game or entertainment brands preferred
